Kisses from Katie

On this beautiful day, I wanted to introduce you all to one of my all-time favorite books.

Kisses from Katie: A Story of Relentless Love and Redemption is an autobiography about Katie Davis falling in love with Uganda after going on a short mission trip there her senior year of high school. She decides to move there after graduation, and she ends up starting a ministry and adopting 13+ little girls.

This book is an amazing journey of faith and obedience. Through her writing and some of her own journal entires, Katie takes the reader on a God-led adventure through the red dirt roads of Africa.

This book was a very entertaining read, but it is so much more than that! This book helped fuel my passion for missions, my love for Africa, and my desire to truly live out 1 Timothy 4:12.

Her bravery and stories stayed on my mind for a long time after I finished the book. I went to her blog ( and caught up on her life post-book. She writes about both amazing times of feeling so close to God and times of despair and darkness. There are numerous quotes that I absolutely love!

“Uncertainty is everywhere. But I am living in the midst of the uncertainty and risk, amid things that can and do bring physical destruction, because I am running from things that can destroy my soul, complacency, comfort and ignorance. I am much more terrified of living a comfortable life in a self serving society and failing to follow Jesus than I am of any illness or tragedy.”

If you love missions, Africa, orphans, Jesus, or even just reading any book, you will love this one. Katie Davis and, more importantly, her heart for God will encourage and inspire.

“I have learned that I will not change the world, Jesus will do that. I can however, change the world for one person. I can change the world for fourteen little girls and for four hundred schoolchildren and for a sick and dying grandmother and for a malnourished, neglected, abused five-year old. And if one persons sees the love of Christ in me, it is worth every minute. In fact, it is worth spending my life for.”
